1. A, B, C, D and E are five consecutive odd numbers. The sum of A and C is 146. What is the value of E ?

Solution:
Let A = x
B = x + 2
C = x + 4
D = x + 6 and
E = x + 8
Then,
A+C=146x+(x+4)=1462x=142x=71E=x+8=71+8=79
