1. A reduction of 10% in the price of tea enables a dealer to purchase 25 kg more tea for Rs. 22500. What is the reduced price per kg of tea?

A. Rs. 70

B. Rs. 80

C. Rs. 90

D. Rs. 100

Solution:

\begin{aligned} 1^{s t} Method : \\ Let the original prine of tea be Rs . x kg \\ After reduction the price becomes \\ = x - 10 % of x = \frac{9 x}{10} per kg \\ Now, \\ \frac{22500}{\frac{9 x}{10}} - \frac{22500}{x} = 25 \\ or, 22500 [\frac{10}{9 x} - \frac{1}{x}] = 25 \\ or, 25 \times 9 x = 22500 \\ or, x = \frac{22500}{25 \times 9} = Rs. 100 \\ Hence, new price \\ = 90 per kg \end{aligned}

\begin{aligned} Thought process method: \\ Let the original price be Rs . 100 per kg, \\ He get tea = \frac{22500}{100} \\ = 225 kg \\ After reduction the price becomes \\ = 90 per kg \\ He get tea = \frac{22500}{90} \\ = 250 kg \\ So, reduction price is Rs. 90 per kg \\ As it enables him to buy 25 kg of more tea . \end{aligned}
