1. If a person purchases a shirt, he gets 6% discount. However, if he purchases two shirts, he gets 5% on the first and 8% on the second. If the price paid by the person for two shirts is Rs. 925, then what will be the marked price of each shirts ?

A. Rs. 494

B. Rs. 550

C. Rs. 528

D. Rs. 500

Solution:

Let marked price = 100x, then by statement
95x + 92x → selling price of both

\begin{aligned} \Rightarrow 187 x \to 925 \\ \Rightarrow x \to \frac{925}{187} = 4.94 \\ Marked price \\ =  4 .94 \times 100 \\ =  Rs . 494 \end{aligned}
