1. The ages of A and B are in the ratio 6 : 5 and the sum of their ages is 44 years. What will be the ratio of their ages after 8 years ?

A. 7 : 6

B. 8 : 7

C. 9 : 8

D. 3 : 4

Solution:

\begin{aligned} A's age  = (44 \times \frac{6}{11}) years \\ =  24 years \\ And B's age  = (44 - 24) years \\ =  20 years \end{aligned}

Ratio of their ages after 8 years

\begin{aligned} = \frac{(24 + 8)}{(20 + 8)} \\ = \frac{32}{28} \\ = \frac{8}{7} \\ = 8 : 7 \end{aligned}
