1. The probability that a card drawn from a pack of 52 cards will be a diamond or a king is -

A. $\frac{2}{13}$

B. $\frac{4}{13}$

C. $\frac{1}{13}$

D. $\frac{1}{52}$

Solution:

Here, n(S) = 52
There are 13 cards of diamond (including one king) and there are three more kings.
Let E = event of getting a diamond or a king
Then, n(E) = (13 + 3) = 16

∴ P (E) = \frac{n (E)}{n (S)} = \frac{16}{52} = \frac{4}{13}
