1. Two partners invested Rs. 125000 and Rs. 85000 respectively in a business. They distribute 60% of the profit equally and decide to distribute the remaining 40% as the interest on their capitals. If one partner received Rs. 3000 more than the other, the total profits is ?

Solution:
Let the total profit be RsxThen, 60% of the profit=Rs.(60100×x)=Rs.3x5
From this part of the profit each gets = Rs.3x10
40% of total profit =Rs.(40100×x)=Rs.2x5
Now, this amount of Rs. 2x5 has been divided in the ratio of capitals, which is 125000 : 85000 or 25 : 17 as interests
∴ Interest on first capital
= Rs.(2x5×2542) = Rs.5x21
Interest on second capital
=Rs.(2x5×1742) = Rs.17x105
Total money received by first partner
=Rs.(3x10+5x21) = Rs.113x210
Total money received by second partner
=Rs.(3x10+17x105) = Rs.97x210113x21097x210=3000x=39375 Hence,Total profit Rs. 39375
