1. Two small circular parks of diameters 16 m and 12 m are to be replaced by a Bigger circular park. What would be the radius of this new park. If the new park has to occupy the same space as the two small parks ?

A. 10 m

B. 15 m

C. 20 m

D. 25 m

Solution:

Let the radius of the new park be R m
Then,

\begin{aligned} π R^{2} = π \times 8^{2} + π \times 6^{2} \\ \Rightarrow π R^{2} = 100 π \\ \Rightarrow R^{2} = 100 \\ \Rightarrow R = 10 \end{aligned}
